Undoubtedly, the beach is the highlight of Maspalomas, all 6kms of it, stretching from the neighbouring sands of Playa del Ingles and finishing in a burst of Saharan-style splendor in a series of golden, rolling dunes. Whilst Maspalomas is much quieter than its vibrant neighbour, Playa del Ingles, there's plenty to entice visitors, from a laid-back waterfront lined with open-air cafes, restaurants and shops to some pleasant, low-key night-time entertainment. There's also a variety of more energetic pursuits in the shape of an excellent 18-hole golf course, windsurfing, horse-riding and two water-parks. And, if you've ever fancied a spot of camel-riding, you can take an exhilarating ride through the sand dunes. Maspalomas and its surrounding area is a popular choice for villas in Gran Canaria due to its relatively quiet setting, beautiful beaches and fabulous amenities. Transfer time 35 minutes.
