Playa Blanca is a pretty resort developed around an old fishing village with a working harbour from where daily ferries depart to Fuerteventura. The area has grown steadily over the years and now dominates the south coast of the island. Informal and relaxed, the area offers gently shelved and well sheltered sandy beaches that are ideal for children. The beaches are smaller than those in Puerto del Carmen but the sand is fine and white. The national park of Papagayo which is about an eight minute drive outside the resort offers some of the most magnificent, un-spoilt beaches in Europe. They are kept as nature intended, pure and golden with wonderful views to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. The pretty sea-facing promenade and small marina of Playa Blanca are lined with a number of inviting restaurants, shops and cafes. There is also a shopping centre and a twice weekly market. Playa Blanca provides some of the highest standard villas in Lanzarote. Transfer time 35 minutes.
