San Miguel is a tranquil, picturesque town set in an elevated position in the south of Tenerife, surrounded by valleys, mountains and pine forests. The area boasts beautiful views and is well known for its banana and flower plantations. It is one of the oldest towns in the south of Tenerife and the narrow streets, interlocking houses and classic Canarian architecture provides an historical yet rural feel to the area. The town offers a variety of shops, bars, excellent restaurants and local markets which are full of fresh produce. If you're here in late September watch out for the village fiesta, which includes free food and wine dispensed from carts pulled by oxen and an exciting annual car rally in the hills around the village. This rural hamlet has bags of character, beautiful surroundings and deliciously good restaurants for such a small place that is only a 15 minutes drive but a million miles away from the big coastal resorts. The ideal retreat for those seeking villas in Tenerife who want to switch off and unwind in a tranquil location. Transfer time 15 minutes.
